I want to wipe the C drive completely and reload operating system and its original extras. How do I do this without losing the recovery partition D?

This is a Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit Dell XPS desktop computer.

If you have the recovery partition, I would not use the DVD to install Vista, doing so will damage your ability to use the restore partition at a later date.
