How can I recover files form a pen drive that shows as empty?

Abhishek Xavier April 20, 2012

My system has been fitted with a new hard disk. All things were fine until I inserted my pen drive. It is being recognized, but it shows as if the pend rive was empty, even the memory used and free, but I have not formatted it. Please help. I have important files on it.

    Did you set the visibility of files in the pendrive in hidden mode?If yes then unhide it.

    Insert your pendrive and go to Tools-->Folder Options-->View under advanced settings Hidden files and folders select Show Hidden files and folders.Then click on Apply and OK.

    If the above method doesn't works then install EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard -

    and follow the steps mentioned in the link below -

       If the files are hidden then they should occupy some space. But the pen drive empty.

      I always use recuva and it works if your files not damaged. Try deep scan for better result.

        perhaps your files are hidden to show them again
        on "Start" -->Run-->type cmd and click on OK.
        if your USB Key as G:
        Enter this command: attrib -h -r -s /s /d g:*.*

        -- insert card into memory slot
        -- navigate to folder where software was downloaded
        -- double click on Re-enable.exe file
        -- enter password if needed
        -- once program opens, click on tools
        -- select scan and delete Auturun.inf
        -- once that is completed, click on tools again
        -- click on reset files/ folder attributes

        perhaps usb key becamed read only so
        Start > Run "cmd"
        type--> diskpart
        type--> list volume
        type--> select volume #
        type--> attributes disk clear readonly
        type--> x:>attrib -r /s /d (X= usb key)
