Can you recommend a free and private forum with networking features for a reunion?

I’m trying to build a page or forum for my School Batch in an attempt to get in touch with most of my batchmates and to know where they are and what are they doing currently. For this I need a service that provides image uploading, posting of stuff etc. online with each other. Also, sharing of contacts information like current address, phone number, eMail address, etc.

Please can someone suggest a good site for this purpose? Facebook is great for this, but need a private and separate site on which this can be possible.

Google. I have used Google's products: Sites for a simple web page, calendar, chat, tasks, Google Voice for really integrated communication... for a family reunion, social group, and for my more immediate family to share photos, videos, and calendar and contacts easily. It is also fairly easy for most people, as most of us use at least some of Google's products. There are even Google Groups...although I didn't find it necessary to use a Group.

I know you said you thought of Facebook but were looking for "Private and separate." Could you further explain that requirement? Facebook Groups sound exactly like what you are looking for. The problem with moving to an external site is that you are going to lose a lot of your classmates simply because you are moving to another website where they have to manage yet another username, password, etc. With Facebook Groups you can still set privacy settings so that it will help keep that information private.

exactly what I was going to say! fb groups can indeed be made private and they will certainly work for what you want to do :)

There are loads of free forum hosting sites out there that might help -

I believe ProBoards is one of the most popular ones, and mostly all of them offer Private Messaging systems for networking, and many also offer a chatroom. Contact information can be shared via the profiles, but you'll have to be sure those are published to just forum members and not the whole world. All of these free forums are configurable through an admin panel.

    Good luck!
