Can you recommend an alternative to Pummelvision?

Ender February 29, 2012

I am looking for a real alternative to Pummelvision, that was also reviewed by MakeUseOf.

All the “similar tools” that were linked, are not really doing the same. The service Pummelvision has being discontinued, does anyone knows something, that is the same, not just similar? Or know a way to repeat the effect of Pummelvision?

Thanks in advance!

I finally figured out an alternative for the now defunct PummelVision website, which was definitely a very cool tool!

Use the website (updated since it was suggested in a previous response). Select a fast-paced song. Change the image pacing to very fast. Preview and then Produce the video.

Here's an example video that I created using Animoto and the are instructions below:

Here's a more detailed step-by-step instructions for using

    1. Sign Up for one of the three plans:
Lite: free; 30 seconds max, hosted video, BUT no video style like PummelVision
Plus: $2.50 a month or $30 annually, 10 min. max, downloadable, Simplistic style
Pro: $20.75 a month, 20 min. max, downloadable, Black Matte style

    2. Create a video:
    > Select a video style (Simplicity is the closest in Plus. Black Matte in Pro)
    > Add Pictures
    > Change the song (I used Again by the artist Parade of Lights)
    > Click on the gear icon to the right of the song name
    > Move the Image Pacing slide to Very Fast and the click on Save
    > Click on Preview Video
    > Make any adjustments or click on Produce

    3. If you picked the Lite plan, you will get a link to the video (you cannot download).
If you picked the Plus or Pro plan, you can download or share the video.

NOTE: You can upload your own music too, but I'm not sure about the copyright or royalty status of the PummelVision theme music that was written by Friendly Ghost.

You can create a video from facebook timeline if you have more than 75 photos

You can manually upload photos from other services on facebook or search some import options like this :

Hi Ender, you may want to try Slideroll, Animoto Onetruemedia,Stupeflix or Slideflickr. Between these there should be one that can serve your needs, at least I sure hope so. Have a great evening.

Thanks Diane, but sadly none of those offer the same functionality as pummelvision - that is, to sequence a lot of pictures in a very short time.
