How can I play ISO images from pSX or PS1 on my PlayStation 3 120 GB? Any help from anyone is appreciated.
[ This is what the officials are saying:
"Some PlayStation (PS one™) format software may play on this system"
ISO backups and some game discs will not work]
Lets forget what cant be done and see what can be done:
you can play them on pc or if u still want to play on PS3...here is a list of PS1 games that u can play on ps3: try them
How Can I Play PS1 Games on My PS3
You are indeed able to play PS1 games on your PS3, provided your PS1 discs are original and the same region as your console. You won't be able to launch ISO images straight off a HDD though. You also won't be able to play any PS2 games unless you've got the old 60GB model, which Sony have since discontinued.
If you really want to play old PS1 games from ISO, get yourself an emulator (like PCSX Reloaded) and enjoy them on your PC instead! You won't need to worry about region locks either ;)
Every PS3 can play PS1 games, but only from original discs. You can't play your backups.
Wrong. Only backwards compatible PS3s can play PS1 games.
Wrong, all of them can as of the 2.00 update
You should try being a little nicer and explaining where people are wrong, else they'll simply argue as you're not providing any extra information to explain why they are wrong.
I believe you've gotten a bit confused, only backwards compatible PS3s can play PS2 games, all PS3s are capable of playing PS1 games.
I am pretty sure with the firmware updates that have been used that you cannot use PS1 games on a PS3. There was apparently only one model that was able to do that and that was a 40GB model when they first came out. I don't know if there is any hacks out there to play ps1 games on ps3 now.
