Why won’t Outlook open any more?

Kathy December 15, 2011

Outlook won’t open anymore.  “Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Unable to open the Outlook window. The set of folders could not be opened. The server is not available. Contact your administrator if this condition persists.” How do I fix it?

    you might have corrupted pst?

or installed a software that added plug-in to outlook?

    1) Navigate to Program Files (x86)/Microsoft/Office/Office14.
    2) Right click on Outlook.exe, and click on Run as administrator
    3) Navigate to File/Options/Add-ins. Near the bottom of the dialogue box, click on the Go button to manage Com add-ins.
    4) Uncheck one or more add-ins that you may not need . Microsoft Sharepoint Server Colleague Import, Itunes, Microsoft Social Connector,
    5) Close Outlook, restart pc, restart OUTLOOK

Hello, can you try opening outlook using the following steps:

    -- Start
    -- Run
    -- Type this command:
    Outlook.exe /resetnavpane>

    -- Click Ok.

Hopefully that helps with your problem, but if for some reason it doesn't work you could try the following. It will open Outlook as when you use it the first time but it will keep all your data:

    -- Start
    -- Run
    -- Type this command:

    Outlook.exe /firstrun

    -- Click Ok.

There is also other possibilities like the ones mentioned in the following link:

Sounds like it is trying to open a PST (email archives) that is not available or that you don't have permission to open it.

Open the control panel, and goto Mail. It should come up with three options, and you will want Data Files. What is listed here? There should not be too much listed here, unless you have created email archives, which you will probably recognized.
