What’s the best notification software that starts on boot?

I am looking for a simple background task that offer a notification leaving a little reminder beacon in the windows notifications bar when there are active notifications to view.

Yahoo has this in it’s Mail, but you have to have Yahoo Mail open.

The problem with Chrome is that Google Calendar must be open to notify the desktop.

I’d like this to start at system start up.
Turn on a notification “bulb” when pending

I’d also like it to pick up stuff from Calendar, Chrome, Yahoo or whatever.

Optionally, I’d like it to pick up stuff from Favorites list in “TV Guide” (laughing at this – seems unlikely).

Wow this looks like it could be good.   Will report back after I get it working.

Well I found a work around.

Yahoo messenger has a notifier like the one I want that lets you know you have an e-mail.    I set my calendar to e-mail the reminders I am concerned about, (mostly TV shows).   So now I have an onscreen popup and can just view my e-mail if I click it to see the details. It works.
