Why is Microsoft’s Service Pack giving me an error?

I’m trying to update my Microsoft Service Pack. Service Pack 1 game me an error message. Sgmapi.dll is missing from my computer. Unable to locate a copy to download. Any suggetions on how to fix it?

    Thanks for the suggestions.
    My Service Pack 1 (2&3 Installed) is a MISSING .dll
    Anyone know where I can get a copy?

      i doubt a copy of Sgmapi.dll 
      do you have Microsoft Security Essentials, if yes uninstallhttp://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/protect/forum/protect_start/uninstalling-mse/a63b8c4b-58ed-437e-8086-fa08d80725a4

      reboot try your update

      if you wish reinstall

    do you have microsoft security essentials? try to deactivate before updating windows.

    is it microsoft service pak 1 for which windows version?

    locate the pack that is causing this problem by launching windows update center, and look, in view update history the failed one

    Hello, I would run a scan with system file checker.  To do so, try the following instructions:

    -- click on windows orb
    -- type cmd in search box
    -- in results, highlight cmd.exe
    -- right click on it and select Run as administrator
    -- once command prompt opens, type the following:

    sfc /scannow

    -- let scan finish
    -- make sure to have your installation disk handy.
