try http://www.yenc.org/ a good explanation of this is on Wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/YEnc its a modern version of UU encoding methods that we used to use,,,
This is how I do it with gmail. Zip the Exe. The important thing then is that you must password protect the zip file. If the archive is password protected - gmail lets it go on through.
You can also use a file transfer service (as mentioned once on MakeUseOf) like the one at http://www.yousendit.com.
Change the extension of the file to say .abc or something random, then zip it like suggested above, and change it back to .exe after it is sent and it should be fine.
Or you could always just email the direct link to the setup file and let the person download it. Less hassle that way.
Or that!! LOL. Amazing how we're all coming up with solutions other than the most simplest way! :-)
I second Tina - use a RAR file. Zip files can be read whereas RAR files stop external programs from discovering what is inside the RAR file.
Another option is to change the file format. So instead of exe, change the file format to jpg or avi (for example). Then when the other party receives the file, tell them to change the file format back to exe. This doesn't work in all cases but it is worth a shot.
Changing the file types does not always work, as some email providers identify exe files by their content rather than by extension (I think GMail is a case in point). Another way of sending exes (and other files for that matter) is via a sharing site, such as 2shared.com, which allow you to upload the file and give you a link, which you can send in an email, and the recipient(s) can download it from there. This tends to be much more efficient as well. If the file is sensitive, you can create a password that will only allow those with the password to download it.
Ya, gentlemen. .rar file extension is working good.
Yeah!
One can rename the file to another format.
eg. Suppose you exe file was " email.exe "
Just rename the file as "email.txt " or "email.jpg " or anythng else.
But DO remember to change the file extension.
Most mailservers don't allow the sending of .exe files, for example GMail. This is to prevent the spreading of malware.
What you can do is add the .exe file to an archive, i.e. zip it and then send the .zip (or .rar) file. Windows comes with a default tool to create .zip archives.
A great free tool is 7Zip, which Dean introduced in an article.

Another option would be to rename your file, e.g. from setup.exe to setup.exe.remove. The mailserver will not block your imaginary .remove file extension and it's not smart enough to realize that the file was just renamed.
Good luck!
Sending as a zip file may not be a working solution, depending on the eMail service you're using. For example Gmail blocks .exe files within zip files. Strangely, using a .rar archive you can send .exe files.
