I have a problem with a Windows XP laptop. When the power adapter is plugged in everything is ok. But when i unplug it the laptop just shutdowns (the normal way). I have tried to change the power settings but with no effect.
You have a battery issue that needs to be replaced.
I'd say that's 100 percent your battery needing replacing. The laptop recognizes it's about to die and shuts down. If it's an old XP laptop you may want to consider buying a new system rather than simply buying a new battery.
Your battery is obviously not holding power. When you unplug, the computer automatically drops into shutdown because it doesnt have enough power to run, and it doesnt want you to lose your work. Replace the battery.
Laptop shutdown due to many reason one of the reason is the low battery another are like the excess heating means laptop get highest tempreature and shutdown and battery is not working
check on the power management settings to see whether it was changed by mistake.

Hello, it might be that your battery does not have enough juice to run....or it is completely dead. You might have to buy a new battery.
