Why is iTunes skipping in the middle of songs?

Jess November 23, 2011

Every time one of my songs gets to a certain point (2:32), iTunes just skips to the next song. I’ve tried clicking past the point on the progress bar, and if I go past 2:32, it still skips. I’ve tried closing iTunes, putting it on repeat, and deleting the song and downloading it again. Is there anyway to fix this?

I totally found a fix for the bug by accident. Try this and see how it works.

    1) Locate one file in iTunes that is failing to work
    2) Click and drag the file to your desktop
    3) Go back to iTunes and delete the file
    4) Drag the file now on the desktop back to the iTunes window

No idea why this works, I'm not a computer guru, but after months of frustration, I tried this as a last resort and it worked - for all of the files I was encounter error with.

Just to be clear, this is a fix for an iTunes song that is skipping before the song is complete.

    Good luck to all!

I had same problem, after I had transferred library to a new computer, and ha14's  very useful solution fixed it.

you downloaded again from the same source ?
may be the file is corrupt or incomplete.
so it won't make a difference if you re-download from the same source,
    download it from somewhere else.
    and try.

    Hi Jess,

Does the song play viably with any other media players?Make sure that iTunes is up to date (current version is 10.5). If it is, you may want to reinstall iTunes and Quick Time.
