Hi, I’d like to be able to run Ubuntu off of an external hard drive properly (i.e., not in the “Try it” environment). I’ve completed the normal installation process for Ubuntu, specifying my hard drive as the destination for the installation. All goes well, and it says that it has installed successfully, but when I try to boot it up on my Mac, it does not show up as a drive that I can boot from. I understand that I need to use rEFit or something of that nature, but the whole process is just gibberish to me – and I consider myself to be reasonably capable tech-wise. Can anyone enlighten me as to how I might achieve my desired end?
Thanks!
