Has Hulu permanently prevented any effort to download their videos by shifting video-caching to the cloud?

None of the previously-touted apps, some of which were recommended by MakeUseOf, work anymore with Hulu. Even one I obtained as a Firefox plugin won’t transfer anything other than the pre-clip advert. This tells me they’ve gone to cloud caching, which these apps will never touch due to the fact that the location is never passed to the client system.

you would need a good recordingsoft for that. hulu content is protected as far as I know but there are ways around it. audials one is one of the programs that can record videos from hulu. actually they have some how to instructions as well on their website you can check out. this would be my recommendation, it's a program that I use myself and can say that it does a good job.

Hulu doesn't intend to allow videos off their site due to some legal reasons. They make available the option of purchasing the video you finished watching via Amazon.com or iTunes.

I am not from US, so can't test this,
when download option is not available , you can try screen recorders like

It can capture whole screen or selected or fixed region.
