How to reformat Dell Inspiron laptop step by step?
see if by clicking F11 (during restart) you can have factory reset option, this will format and reinstall windows from the recovery partition.
use a windows bootable disc -> boot from it using F10 key -> install the windows following the instructions.
Depends on the make and model. Most should have a recovery partition (normally accessed by holding an f-- key during boot. Just google "factory reset (your make and model computer)" and one of the first links should answer your question.
Read your manual.
try following steps you can get it.
>Back-up all data.(Before you start, make sure you back up all files because this process will restore everything to default.)
>Put the Operating System in your CD/DVD drive. Then restart your laptop.
>When the Dell loading screen comes up, press F12 a few times.
> Boot to CD/DVD drive.
>Make sure you delete the old partition. And install Windows on a clean partition.
> Once windows get's done installing, put the Drivers disc in the CD/DVD drive.
> Install the drivers needed.
>You might want to install the other discs as well?
> Windows Updates. Start -> All Programs -> Windows Update.
You can format each drive by right clicking on them and then 'format' option, by this way you can format each drive except the drive in which there is operating system. To format that OS drive you can put the windows/OS CD and then re-install the operating system in that drive again in this way you are formatting each drive.
if by reformat you mean "Factory Reset", then you have to press F2 button before the booting and choose the repairing option and then you will have the dell datasafe local backup there, unless you have messed with your recovery partition...
else order a windows DVD from dell to do a fresh install...
