Sign up for a free account on http://www.ifttt.com. There you will be able to link your facebook status updates to forward as a gmail message. There are many more channels on there as well.

You could try using IFTTT (If This Then That), by creating a recipe where if you make a status, an email will be sent to you with that status immediately.
