In the last couple of days, two very capable Android Jelly Bean 4.2 smartphone have been launched in India. LG has launched the Google Nexus 4 16GB @ Rs. 25, 990/= and Panasonic has launched the P51 for Rs. 26,900/=. Which one will you think India will warm up to and adapt? As all know about the Nexus, I am attaching the video of the P51 for better comparison at http://youtu.be/-zzey-5Wy7k .
I happen to love Panasonic products, but in this case, the Panasonic P51 appears strictly inferior to the Nexus 4. The magnetic clamshell case is a nice touch, but you would think that Panasonic would try to leverage their Toughbook proprietary technologies. They could have included some degree of ruggedization at minimal cost to themselves. But if I have understood the video correctly, there's no such implementation in the P51.
Something that wasn't mentioned: There's several amazing features that the N4 has - wireless Qi charging. Wireless display output. Few phones use these technologies, but they are amazingly useful. Right now I have a desktop that I can carry around in my pocket.
However, the biggest advantage is the N4's development community. It's very easy and safe to root your phone and install the absolute best custom ROMs and other sorts of software.
There is no comparison. Panasonic gives you a cheap quad core processor and Nexus gives you a high-end flagship level quad-core CPU. Also you have a guarantee of updates to latest version of android. Go for the Nexus.
