If it is your own posts, you get an option on the top right hand corner like an direction pointing downwards. Click it to get option to either edit or delete. For others post, you get smilar option to hide or report it as spam at the same place. You can even block that users posting in your wall for the future, through the spam reporting option.

Usually if you hover over the item, there's an icon on the top right corner. It should say "remove" or "delete" when you scroll over it.

i think if someone posted photo on your timeline only can be deleted by that person, but you can hide it.

click on your profile, ever post has Edit or Remove in sort of Pencil Icone

    1) Hover your mouse pointer over the top right-hand corner of the post to reveal the down-arrow button. Click the down-arrow button.
    2) Select “Hide Story” from the context menu to delete the offensive post. Select “Unsubscribe From [Username]” in the context menu to delete the offensive post and remove all other posts from the user who posted the item.
