If you previously backed up your iPhone, you could restore it from backup using iTunes, to put your messages back on. Alternatively, you could only retrieve SMS from your iPhone backup as detailed here

In fact, there are two ways for you to recover your deleted photos from iPhone. First, you can use a third-party tool
to directly scan and recover pictures from your iPhone. Second, if you've synced your iPhone with iTunes, you also can regain your deleted pictures by extracting your iTunes backup file.

    1. Directly scan and recover messagefrom iPhone
    a) Make iTunes be automatically sync with iPhone.
    b) Enter DFU mode and scan iPhone
    c) Preview and recover iPhone message

    2. Scan and extract iTunes
backup to recover iPhone message?Link your apple iphone to i-tunes
and Back up by choosing Preferences > Back-up from apple itunes, or
proper-click on your own iPhone as well as choose support.
    a) Scan your iTunes backup for iPhone 3GS
    b) Preview and recover iPhone message
    c) Do backup well

There are many third parys brand software can do it: like iStonsoft,iPubsoft, Vibosoft, Coolmuster,
    iStonsoft iPhone bacup extractor:

    Coolmuster iOS Data Recovery

    and more...

All of them works perfectly, but they are not free, if you need best support serive, you can try to purchase them, as for me, I used iStonsoft program.

How to Restore SMS Text Messages Only to iPhone (iTunes Without Jailbreak)

Text messages are then deleted only after sync with iTunes.
In order to recover a deleted text message or messages, run through the following 4 easy steps:
STEP 1:Make sure iTunes doesn’t automatically sync with iPhone when connected.
STEP 2:Connect your iPhone to iTunes and Back up by selecting Preferences > Backup from iTunes, or right-click on your iPhone and choose back up.
STEP 3:Restore your iPhone by selecting Restore under Preferences. Note that restoring the iPhone will restore the previous iPhone firmware. Your iPhone will be completely erased after the new firmware is installed. So make sure your back up is good!
STEP 4:The final step will be to restore your iPhone from the back up you created on step 2. This will allow you to restore any data you have backed up, including the “deleted” text messages.

perhaps disk aid can help you to get /private/var/mobile/Library/SMS/sms.db.
