How do I get an image sequence in .PNG or .JPG from a .MOV file?

Roman Vávra November 7, 2012

Hi there!

Is there any possibility to get images (or image sequence) from .MOV files? If so, is there any freeware software for it? I already tried 2-3 programs, but they were trial versions…

Thank you for any help!

As I know a video converter can help you do that.

I would suggest Total Video Converter..
Select convert to .jpg and import the video file. Select the start and end time you want, and click convert, and you will get all the images frame by frame!

    Try VirtualDub.
Then again, most video players nowadays can take snapshot of the media it currently plays. Check your player to see if it has the function built in.

you can use vlc for this purpose

    1.Pause the video
    2.Right click on the video-screen
3.go to "video" and then click "take snapshot".

glad that you liked it and hope will serve you.

After install check the Capture Engine option where you have Internal, FFmpeg and Mplayer. I suggest to instal FFmpeg and point SceneGrabber.NET to FFmpeg directory to take screenshots.
