I am getting a “critical process died” error in Windows 8 during startup. I have already tried automatic repair but it is of no use. Please tell me how to fix it?

Catch the Widows 8 CD and throw it. Plz install the Windows 7 this is the best solve for you.

Try to reinstall Windows 8 as a fresh installation. If your system has recovery partition, then you can recover from it else in order to backup your system data, which is IMPORTANT,then you can use Linux Live CD to browse the contents of your system and create backup.

Redo backup is also a good backup tool.

What is the whole error message? Is it telling you what process is dying?

perhaps an important file was deleted by mistake, you can try refresh / reset Windows 8,
