How can I watch movies and view images using my LG HDTV?

Jae Lee April 12, 2013

I’ve had my LG TV for a while and have never been able to watch movies off a USB stick with it. I can’t access photos through the USB port either. Does anyone know how I can do this?

The model number for my TV is LG 42LV4400 42-Inch 1080p 120Hz LED-LCD HDTV. Thanks!

    Hi Jae,

The 42LV4400 can only display JPG images from a flash drive.

If you want to watch movies on it, you'll need a media playback device. TV's can't decode high profile codecs like h264.

From what I understand and have seen, the USB port is only for viewing JPG format pictures and not for videos or music. As far as the TV not showing any pictures from your USB storage device, make sure the USB drive is formatted in FAT32. It will not accept other formatting such as NTFS or EXT.
