The Linux Distro 'Kali' is the latest distro in Computer Security and Penetration Testing. Brought by the creators of Backtrack 5 r3. It is more stable and efficient when it comes to installing software or other devices. Hopefully you are fluent in using Linux. Another aspect to look out for is the wireless device used. It should be compatible and be able to monitor and inject packets.

I use some of the books to guide me in penetration testing and metasploit that can be found at amazon. There are also some beginner youtube videos that can be helpful.

That's a such a vague request. Try using Google to learn precise things like "metasploit backtrack r5" or "hack wep wifi backtrack".

Do a search. Out of the 294.,000 Google hits, there should be something in there that will help. If these ones don't, that is...

First, you should look at Kali. This is a new OS from the creators of Backtrack and is the latest release. It has a dedicated website, with tutorials and a community area for support as well. You can find it here:

Backtrack OS is a collection of open-source tools, compiled together and ensure that they work well. Each tool can be located and instructions found as well. Also, you can many different tutorials at the following link:
