How can I stop Gmail from automatically showing thumbnail images?

Douglas Mutay December 19, 2012

If one of your contacts has already send you a picture using Gmail, anytime you open a new message from this contact Google shows you at the left side of your page a thumbnail of the last picture that he sent.

I don’t want this feature on my email.

Can anyone tell me which setting turns this off?

    Display images from certain senders
1.Click the gear icon in the upper right, then select Settings.
2.In the External content section, select Ask before displaying external content.
    3.Click Save Changes.

Thanks Ha14, but this option is for email that contains externally linked images. What I am talking about is when you open a mail from a contact that has already sent you a picture file. Google will show at the upper right, down to gear setting a link called: recent photos. And you can see a preview of all the recent photo that this contact sent you.
That's what I am trying to get rid off!

There should be a hide setting in the inbox of email.
