Cindy January 4, 2012

You recently ran an article Hackintosh. But is it possible to hack into a cheap Chinese tablet and turn it into an iPad?

I don't see how you can't do that because I did that just yesterday no kidding so whoever asked if you can all you need to do is type in there name, city, age, and phone # on Google search and then once you do that you can go on your electronic device and type the password on to any thing even Google sketch up and a page will pop up it will ask who you are trying to hack into and after you type in the name or password and then the tablet page will pop up then what you do is you take out there battery and you replace it with an I pad battery and there you have it

I've got an old working iphone 3gs. Can the 'innards' be patched into at least display/input on a Viewsonic gtablet screen/digitizer?

well first find out if similar surgery was done on the same tablet as yours then apply it, otherwize if you take another approach then your tablet can become beyond recovery. Applying other OS than the official one takes time and effort its not easy.

i think it has RK2918 so perhaps you have to look on similar configuration

you can follow some discussionhere to see if rooted firmware will function

You can not actually make a cheap tablet actually run the iPads' iOS, but you can make it look like iOS. I have never done this to a tablet, but shouldn't vary too much with some tweaking (Android is geared more phones, not including HoneyComb)

    Miui has a iOS look.
You can also make CyanogenMod look like iOS

There are also several alternate launchers that also look like iOS

There is actually a android phone, The GooApple, that is VERY similar to the iPhone.

I had an ipad on my wishlist for Christ but instead I got a MeiYing M11+ that runs Android 2.3, it's not a bad unit, but the apps that I want to use are  all from apple. It's not the cheap cheap chinese generic tab, but it's not an ipad

I am familiar with that tablet, not too bad at all. But there is no way to play iOS apps on it. There are alot of iOS apps have android versions and/or alternative, even Siri is making its way to the Android side of things.

I'm not aware of any hacks to get iOS running on hardware different than the official [from Apple] if that's what you want.

I think the best unsuccessfull attempt so far was hacking a tablet (Motorola Xoom) into running Ubuntu and then trying to run iOS in a virtual machine.

There is/was an alleged port of iOS to a HTC device as shown in the link below but since there hasn't been any further information or release to this point I personally tend to say it's nothing more but Android running some iOS like skin.

Hello, hackintosh applies to using a pc with hardware compatible with mac to run mac in a pc.  I am not sure you can convert a tablet, specially if it is a cheap one into an ipad.  I read an article not long ago, about a guy in China that built his own ipad to give it as a gift.
