Why is only GMail loading slow on all browsers?

GMail loads or processes each screen at a snail’s pace. On Chrome 6, Opera, Firefox and IE8. Chrome loads everything else faster than the other three, except for GMail. I’ve been told this is an ISP problem. I don’t follow, nor know what to report to my ISP that wouldn’t make them LOL.

Could it be your router? Ive seen issues like this with certain routers.

Switch to the HTML version for a while, that should help. If it doesn't, it's indeed something to do with your DNS resolving or your ISP doing something ugly to Gmail traffic.

Try to flush your dns (http://www.tech-faq.com/how-to-flush-dns.html) and see if that changes anything.

If it doesn't, try switching your DNS provider. Google DNS or OpenDNS are both very good free alternatives to any standard DNS provider.

Google has a well written and informative page on how to configure your DNS provider: http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using.html

If all this still renders no result, try to find more specifically where the problem lies. Does Gmail also load slow on other computers on the same internet as you? What happens if you connect to the internet from another place? Are you running any programs that might use/interfere with Gmail?

    Good luck finding the solution.

    What's your internet connection speed?

Do you have loads of Gmail Lab features enabled? This could be a cause. Turning off the chat also speeds it up by a bit. Try opening your account via the mobile link - https://mail.google.com/mail/x/ and see how it goes. Use a third-party email client and see if it's more effective.
