How do I get multiple accounts in Outlook 2010 to download and send emails again?

In Outlook 2010, one account has stopped downloading and sending for some time now and the other account has stopped sending emails.

However all of these work from either the online interface and from the phone. So it is just Outlook that has problems.

What do I do?

    maybe you can check File --> Options --> Advanced --> Send/Receive

    Check the settings within Outlook. Make sure servers (POP/IMAP, SMTP) and their settings (Port, SSL, authentication) are correct. Maybe delete and re-enter the password for these accounts.

    See if there are emails queued in the outbox. If yes, check the recipient address for illegal characters or move all pending messages to the Draft folder to go through them at a later time. The server might be timing out the client for too many bad requests.
