What’s the best free software for de/compressing files in Windows XP?

My hard drive “jampacked” with video files. I know there are compress options in Windows XP , but is there any freeware that can compress and uncompress like Windows – but more quickly?

hi fidelis.. i thought so also... what more, when i use the build in compress option it take hell to slow for 100gb to compress. i take2 day to get it done.. so i just quit it. just thinking if the so call software exist that helpme to decompress or even compress any file with ease. i search "thru" the web and nothing come accrossexcept for zip n related compresssing n that was beyond issues since i cn use the file at ease without unzip it first... n o yeah i'm using 2 hdd now for external. 1 for system n 1 for data. i also have external n all have 10% space. that why i thought compress might help. that just mean 2 option. low of dvd or new hdd. thank for ur help.. im closing this up.

Hello, I would think the best solution for you would be to get an external drive and move the video files there. Compressing an already compressed file does not accomplish much...at most you can regain a few mb of space.
