this depends on your camera manufacturer.
Scan your windows with drivereasy and see if new driver for your webcam will be detected.

Hello, what is your operating system?  You could try checking is webcam is recognized in device manager.  Here is how do it in windows 7:

    -- click on start
-- type device manager in search box
-- look for webcam entry.  If not available check for any unknown device entry.  you could also check under Universal Serial Bus Controllers.
-- expand the entry by clicking on arrow
-- right click on it and select properties
-- In general tab check the status under Device Status
    -- click on Driver tab
-- if webcam is recognized, click on uninstall and then ok.  If it shows as unknown device, try the update driver option
    -- restart your system

Your system will try to reinstall a generic driver once it starts up.  Try to use your webcam.  If it is not working, visit computer manufacturer's site, find the support section and download the webcam driver available for your model and operating system.

uninstall the driver, reboot and reinstall again, see if this will solve the problem.
Check also if your security tool is noy blocking the webcam?
