How can I fix a corrupted Windows 7 with missing files?

jim puzzo August 3, 2011

I knocked the power cord off of the socket and when I restarted, Windows 7 Home was corrupted and files missing. I went to try restore and under system tools it reads ’empty’.

Could you refer me to an online tech advisor group? Dell wants over $200 to fix it and the unit is only 4 monhts old.

Jim, just do as ha14 suggested, but only the sfc /scannow part.

Make surey ou have your disk in the tray and go to start -> run/search and type "cmd" without quotes. A terminal will popup, type "sfc /scannow" without quotes. It will begin checking the install files and make sure they match what they should be, so it may require your disk if it finds anything.

If that doesn't work, post bac
