I just installed new copy of Windows 7 on my laptop. Previously, I was using Windows 7. I installed a new copy since my computer was infected with viruses.
Now with the new installation, I am having problems with Windows update. When I tried to update, code 8024402F error was shown. Please help!

Hello, you might want to have a look at the first comment on the following link:

This error has a very vague invocation, so here are a list of known solutions.
- Disable Windows Firewall (during update only)
- Modify Security Settings (Start -> Control Panel -> Internet Settings) to allow ActiveX and Cookies (set security to medium)
- Disable proxy service (Internet Settings or a VPN)
- Open the Windows Update troubleshooter by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type troubleshooter, and then click Troubleshooting. Under System and Security, click Fix problems with Windows Update. (SRC: Bui Van Hung @ answers.microsoft.com)
Microsoft released a "FixIt" tool for this issue, you can download it here:

If you have any questions, please reply with them. Also note, you don't have to re-install just because you have malware. It is only suggested that you re-install if you suspect your infected with a rootkit.
