How can I easily password protect a folder in Windows?

sahil December 29, 2010

Is there any free software available for password protecting Windows folders?

I don’t need any software like folderlock, it is very complicated. I want something like when I enter the folder it asks for a password only, i.e. it should be easy to use.

Em... it is really a big problem if you can not log on your laptop any more. But don't worry. You know the solution is always more than difficulty. According my experience, I want to share with you.
Method 1:Get Petter Nordhal-Hagen's tool to change the admin password. With this option you have to boot from a CD and then manipulate the SAM database. Manipulating the SAM database is always a bit risky. But if you have no password reset disk, this is the only way.

Method 2: If you have another available administrator account, you can also reset the password. Just log on your PC->Click "Start"button->Control Panel->Add or remove user account->Select the account you want to reset->Change or Remove the password. Then the password will be reset.

Method 3: You can use one of the password recovery software tool to reset the forgotten password. Here, i would like to introduce you one of them, which i have applied. It is really a good hand. That is Windows Password Recovery Tool 3.0. The process is following.
Step 1: Download the Windows Password Recovery Tool 3.0 and burn a erasable CD,
Step 2: Boot the CD into the ISO image which is provided by Windows Password Recovery Tool 3.0.
    Step 3:BIOS settings
Step 4:Recover the Windows admin password.
