As FIDELIS said the easiest method to get files on your iPad via Dropbox is to install the desktop application on your Mac or Windows computer and store files within it's directory. They will then be uploaded to the Dropbox cloud and can be accessed via the Dropbox App on your iPad.

    One important point:
By default your iPad needs Internet connection (WiFi or 3G) to open those files. To store them on your for offline usage you have to favorite them within the App. They will then be stored locally on your iPad.
At this point you can only favorite individual files not entire folders.

Hello, it is very simple, just navigate to the default dropbox folder and open it.  I do not have an Ipad, but when you install dropbox you can set it to start with whatever computer you are using.  You should be able to see an icon somewhere showing the dropbox folder.  Once the dropbox folder is opened you can copy/paste or move the files there and that is it.

There is the sync folder extension for dropbox.  As far as I know it is only compatible with windows but It would not hurt for you to find out if there is something similar for mac/ipad.  Practically what it does is just install the extension, pick the folders you want to sync automatically and anything you put on those folders will be automatically transfer to dropbox.  Then, if you have more than one computer, the next time you open the dropbox folder on it, it will automacally sync the folders between all computer by using dropbox.  This is the extension:

The following link will show you something similar for Mac:

    Here is another possible solution:
