How can I use Drop Cap in Word?

Darrell Smith December 22, 2011

I’ve seen thousands of sites talking about a thing called “Drop Cap.” Yet I don’t know how to turn it on or enable the Drop Cap option when it is grayed out. How do I do that?

It is grayed out when you do not select the text,
which should be active when you select some text.
It will be applied to a normal paragraph only.

    Did it help ?

You can select drop cap from the insert tab and apply dropped.

For older version of ms office:
select text>  format menu > drop cap

With Word open, write some sample text. Then highlight the letter you want to drop cap (usually the first letter of the first sentence only). Go to the "Insert" tab and select "Drop Cap" -> "Dropped". Voilà!
