How can I download from 1-click file hosting site as premium user for free?

Prakash Shah November 4, 2011

I had to download a 3 GB file which is impossible to download at once, though it has smaller parts and resume downloading doesn’t work. So, I wondered if there is a free idea.

    hello prakash ,
this is a sad part when it comes to file downloading via such type of file sharing sites .
they limit you in the size of file you can download , time for how long you can download , and even the daily limits for the size you can download .
and it doesnt end here ,
even while downloading ,you will have to wait for your download to start ,will not get the full download speeds , no resume functionality ,  and the worst , the download will suddenly end / stop without any hindrance from you and esp when its about 80% or 90% complete ! :bummer:: ! ( this esp happens with Rapidsh!t n Hotfile )

so the user is forced to go for a premium account to suffice his needs .
else there are no alternatives .!

however , a free alternative i recommend is Mediafire .
excellent file support , no captcha's , no waiting , and full speeds according to your connection .
search for your file of choice on Mediafire and you just might be lucky and find it .
try searching on ( its a meta search engine for such file sharing sites )

another service ,a new one , i would recommend for personal sharing of files is
As of now its pretty good and promising .

    on a passing note ,

try googling for the Premium Accounts of the file sharing site where your desired download is .
i say so , because sometimes the file sharing sites give away limited number of premium accounts for promotional purposes .
if lucky , you might find yourself an ongoing promotional offer .

Why is that the "sad part"? You're making it sound like everything on the internet should be free, and the very thought of someone making money is disgusting! Yes, filesharing companies offer premium accounts, because badnwidth costs and they want to make money. Is that wrong?

        hello James .
obviously no, its not wrong to make money . and no one said everything has to be free on the internet !
the reference to the " sad part " , is just a metaphor to that moment when you find something what you want , but cant cant get it because of some reason ( any ) .!
and this metaphorically quoted " sad part " doesnt refers to just making the payment to get the service but to all you have to go through even while using the non payment portal of the service . what all i mentioned in my starting para in the answer !

        so , makes sense .... ;)

Get jdownloader - its a cross platform app that handles those downloads from free sites for you - though you will need to keep an eye on it as it'll keep bugging youfor captcha results.

Hello, if you do not want to get a paid account, the only option you have for now is just to download a few pieces at the time.  It'll take you a while though.  Like the commenter above said, you paid for an account.  Depending what service you are using, check to see if they at least have a day account.  Some of them offer different options.  Day account, weekly, monthly, tri-montly, etc.

Most of those sites have a free option to download files.  It is generally slower, has ads all over the page, will only allow you to download one part at a time, may limit the total amount you can download in a 24-hour period, may also impose a wait time between downloading individual parts of a split file, and few support resuming an interrupted download.  Or you can drop a few bucks to get a short-term premium account with them.  You can also try jDownloader which automates much of the process for grabbing these files although it generally cannot properly decode CAPTCHA images, so you will still have to manually enter the codes yourself.
