How can I copy protect software on a CD or DVD?

How can I make a data CD or DVD (containing software), which is copy protected.

It should be readable on the DVD or CD drive on a computer and executable and installable, but the user should not be able to copy my content to any CD/DVD or even the hard disk.

Activelock might be an option as well. It uses a BSD license, so it's completely free and open source, even for commercial use.

I second Josh, Activelock seems to provide what you need. Haven't tried it myself though.

Let us know how it goes.

There are software tools (SecuROM, Lazerlock) that do the job. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find one which is free though there are many free tools that 'remove' copy protection that are freeware :)

Nero itself has SecurDisc which protects CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray Discs. If you come across a free tool, do let us know. I will keep looking.
