An ipod touch is nice. They can listen to music, watch movies, read books, play games, go online, and with the latest ipod touch, they can also take pictures/videos. It's pretty great for a small gadget. There are 4 different sizes 8gb, 16gb, 32gb and 64gb.

Or you can buy a Wii. It's good for games and will give your kid a good exercise while playing :)

Accessories for their computers are also good. Speakers, flash drive, mouse, printers....

iPods are great as mentioned above - but it is a bit... samey. If your child has any preference to being different he/she probably doesn't want an Apple product. After all they are very common devices. (Its difficult to comment really without more information about the child.)

When I was 15.... I desperately wanted a PSP I think - one of the first ones, and a nice mobile phone - (I think it was the Sony Ericsson p901 that had me so excited haha). Both were rather expensive though. Perhaps a Wii? Although with controllers the price of one quickly adds up...

Cheaper stuff mmm (just brainstorming here)...ah... maybe:

A really nice (price is really your choice on how far you want to go) memory stick for his/her keychain or there are some pretty cool designer usb drives nowadays (necklaces, bracelets, cards), would probably go down pretty well. I got my sister one recently so she could carry all her music and a fair number of her videos and pics around with her all the time. - might want to get one which has a lock on it though (password protected) - personal data on memory stick always worries me. There are some really cool designer ones which one can get now.

It depends what they are into. If music, absolutely go with an iPod as M.S. Smith suggests - still very popular with teens. If he/she is an avid reader - a Kindle may be well received. If he/she has lots of friends and doesn't have a cellphone yet - that's another option depending on how you feel about teens having cellphones. If you take that route, go for unlimited messaging...lol. Good luck!

I think it is hard to go wrong with iPods. If you're looking to spend less, get a Nano - more, get a iPod Touch. Teens love them.

A good, lightweight, portable digital camera can also be a good idea.

Is the teenager a boy or girl?

What gadgets do they already own? If you don't want to spend too much money and don't know what other gadget they would like, you could buy an accessory for something they already have. Just an idea.
