There is an online application at the below page that does it.

If you are using Microsoft word 2010, insert the pictures normally into the word document one after another and then use the Save As and sellect PDF option that is now provided with MS Office 2010. I presume this will be the simplest way for a layman like me. :)

I'm a bit surprised there's not a a purpose built program to do this but I can't think of one and couldn't find one.

A fairly nasty option might be to insert all the images into an MS Word document (you can insert multiple images in a single "insert image" operation) then use print to PDF. You say "large number of images" - that could be large enough to crash MS Word so you might need to create several PDFs (then maybe use one of the PDF utility programs to merge them).

If you can program then it wouldn't be difficult to knock up a PHP program using a PDF library like fpdf or tcpdf. The program might also do some image resizing so you get some control over how many per page. Also depends how much keen you are to convert all to pdf - and how many images are involved.

Pdf creator is a great idea, but if you want to size and document with them, then OpenOffice or LibreOffice exports documents to pdf. This means you can import and position and annotate your images

This would be a better idea than using an extra software.

you are talking absolutely out of context. The person asked for conversion of images to pdf, and not document to pdf.

if you have adobe acrobat its pretty easy open your folder whit the images . crtl all to select all and right mouse click and select combine all files in a single pdf.
    and that´s all
