Anonymous July 14, 2014

Every time I try to disable Windows Media Center, Windows Media Center opens. Why is this and how do I close Windows Media Center?

Does the system exhibit the same behavior when running in Safe Mode?

I have windows 7. But when I try the steps mentioned to disable it, windows media center pops up. It seems to control every thing I try to do. I can't even use system restore anymore or download anything. I'M STILL CONFUSED ON HOW MEDIA CENTER INSTALLED ON MY COMPUTER!

It would help if we knew which version of Windows you have.

    try this
When you run an .exe file on a Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7-based computer, the file may start a different program

    1. open up the Control Panel
    2. click on Programs
    3. select to “Turn Windows features on or off”
    4. “Media Features” and uncheck Windows Media Center

do a restore point before anything
