Would a Chromecast be of any benefit if I already own a Smart Samsung TV?

I already own a Samsung Smart TV so would a Google Chromecast or similar Android device be of any benefit? What else could I use it for in conjunction with my smart TV?

Smart TV's, except for a select few models that are mostly too expensive to think about purchasing, are generally slow, the interface very clunky and not user friendly, and very limited in uses. The Google Chromecast is usually much faster, easier to use, much better user interface, and has many developers working to bring much more content, support for devices and content, applications, and much more. There recently has been an update that allows for Miracast support (allows the mirroring of android device screens on your TV, including games, videos, pictures, web browsing, etc.). Since the update that allows Miracast support, Chromecast is more useful and in some ways better than most other android device and especially "smart" tv functions. For $30-40, it wouldn't be much of a loss if you don't use it, especially since you can give it as a gift to someone (and I'm sure they would enjoy using it). Honestly, though, I think that you would find Chromecast to be more enjoyable to use and more likely to use it more often than you ever would the functions of a smart TV.

Thank you Dalsan. The chromecast was on special for AUD29-00 and with yours and Mark's helpful advice, I have purchased it and now looking forward to playing with it tonight. I even forgot I had a non smart TV in another room for which this will be huge asset for. Cheers.

I have a samsung smart tv and google chromecast, the cast was a present which i looked at like the inlaw you don't want at your home but lo and behold, I use it more than i'd like to admit, I rarely use the smart tv to its full potential because I am so set in my ways with my computer, I have a ton of videos, for both myself ad the children and instead of buying them a media player each I simply have one drive attached to my comp shared to all and any of the girls use their cast to watch straight to their tv screen, we've had all three chromecast's working at the same time from the media drive, we scan through our pics, music, vids, my eldest uses her cast to use her 38inch tv as the monitor, casting the entire screen, so she's on facebook in large format, truthfully, I don't know what I've been doing without a chromecast

    Hope this helps you

Question: What do you want to do that your current devices and/or your Smart TV can't do? Maybe they can do it and you just don't know about it, or how to do it.

We could probably come up with 10-20 uses that sound cool to you but how often are you really going to use them ~ not in the first week but over a year or two. Usually, if you have to ask what to do with it then you don't really need it.

At least read through some reviews and articles and then ask about specific features.
