How can I change my Firefox profile from read-only?

cindy December 20, 2011

Firefox doesn’t respond when I start it. I went to the Firefox help page and it said the problem was that my profile should not be read-only. However, I can’t seem to change it. How do I change the profile from read-only?

firefox profile folder becomes read-only after closing browser

    Profile Folder

    Profile Manager

Make sure that you do not have read only file in your Firefox profile. The read-only attribute may have been set by restoring files from a CD or file protected media, and can cause numerous problems within your Firefox profile. Windows allows you to remove read-only attributes at the directory level for all subordinate folders and files.

    Open Profile Folder

Creating a new Firefox profile on Windows
    firefox.exe -P
