How can I change the default network name in Windows?

John February 20, 2011

I have an issue with the computer automatically assigning names toward the network that I’ve connected. When the connection to my LAN is successful, it would assign it “Network 2”.

I want to know how could I change the default name?

1)right click on the Network icon in the notification area, then click on Open Network and Sharing Center. Or Open the Control Panel (All items view), and click on the Network and Sharing Center icon.
2)Click on an active network icon. This will open the Set Network Properties window
3)In the Network name field, type the new name you want for your network
4)To Change the Network Icon;Click on the Change button then Select a icon, or browse to the location of a icon, for your network and click on OK.
    5) Click on OK to apply your settings
