How can I repair a corrupt installation of Excel?

How do I fix a problem regarding Excel corrupted in Windows 7? I used the option to Open & Repair but that did not resolve the problem.

Some times it helps to completely remove Office (or just Excel), clean the registry with CCleaner (I don't trust *any* other registry repair any more), then re-install.

Do you get an error when you try to open Excel or when you try to open an spreadsheet?

For Excel itself I would suggest to run the "Microsoft Office Diagnostics" from your start menu.

If that doesn't help head into Control Panel > Add and Remove Software. Select Microsoft Office and click the "change" button. Once the Office Installation dialog starts there will be a "repair" option which solves most issues duo to a damaged installation.
