How can I recover corrupted Word files?

Recently I have been digging for old Word (2013) files and I have found that some of them are corrupted. How this happened is a mystery to me, and if someone could comment I would appreciate it.

However, what I am concerned with is recovering some of them. Whereas some I can let go without much issue, others are very important. I would appreciate any help in recovering them, either with procedures I am yet unfamiliar with, or using specific software. Free would be preferable, but if best-in-class is pay and I need it, I’ll buy it.

Thanks for your opinions.

Of course you can repair corrupted word files with the use of third party repair application like Remo Repair Word. Try once …

The file was corrupted having several reasons.maybe due to antivirus, broken links,or suggestion is that if the file is very important then you can concern the data recovery specialist, bescause many free software can't recover your total files.

There's a good article on the subject on TechRadar - Read that first. It makes many good points and suggestions. In particular, I would wonder why a large number of files became corrupt at the same time. Is it possible that the problem lies elsewhere (e.g. with Word itself)?

If the above article doesn't soleve your problem, you could try opening the documents in LibreOffice/OpenOffice - they might just open!

Ther are also programs that attempt to repair the actual file, but they tend to cost a fair bit. For example, "Recovery for Word" ($89) and
"Ontrack EasyRecovery Home" (£66.13). Success is not guaranteed of course, so download a trial version before buying!
