Which tips would you suggest for buyers in current scenario of eShopping?
On top of using PayPal, try using a prepaid card, such as PayPal Prepaid MasterCard, and keep your bank account, personal credit cards and other lesser protected forms of money away from PayPal or other ways of online payment. If you must use your bank account or credit card/debit card, make sure the bank/card companies offer butter protections. PayPal hasn't been exactly the most trustworthy with money and personal information for its users.
Ensure that the website uses https secure protocol as opposed to regular http. You can use the on-screen keyboard to help reduce the chances of keyloggers from logging your keystrokes. You can also use Sandboxie or Comodo Internet Security's Virtual Kiosk as it is a sandboxed virtual environment, meaning that if anything should happen to your computer, it would only affect the sandboxed virtual environment and not your actual system, and then a restart of the Virtual Kiosk would get you back to a safe environment prior to any attacks or infection.
Advice all else, ensure that you research the website and company for complaints, scams, reviews, any protections for the purchaser (such as refunds, butter protections, etc.), and use McAfee's WOT (Web of Trust) or similar add-on in your browser (some antivirus software and browsers like Comodo Dragon or Ice Dragon have something similar built in). If you really wish to have better online protection for online purchases and banking, you may want to purchase a subscription (paid) version of an antivirus suite like Bitdefender, Norton Internet Security/360, etc.
If you can find items to purchase from a reputable store or company, do so as they are more likely to offer and come through with replacements, repairs, and refunds for products than purchasing from a person on eBay, want ads, or sites/companies based in China. Look for many misspelled words and grammatical errors as that is usually a sign of fake or non-trustworthy website or company. Last, but not least, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Thanks. Please tell 1) regarding your important point "If you can find items to purchase from a reputable store or company, do so as they are more likely to offer and come through with replacements, repairs, and refunds for products than purchasing from a person" .. Do you imply that store within portal rather than from individuals. 2) Please tell how would you compare and contrast individual seller with high rating vis-a-vis a store seller with average rating? 3) Please tell how to know if seller is international ( currently common online eShopping portals show mixed sellers - local and international - for item searched )
Only pay through PayPal (or similar popular websites)!
Thanks. Please tell which popular websites?
