How can I locate my stolen Samsung Galaxy Note II?

Anonymous June 21, 2014

My Samsung Galaxy Note II N7100 has been stolen and I need to locate it. Can you suggest any program which can locate missing telephone which has been locked because no charge?

We informed the police but it will take them time to locat it. Can you help with any program or advice?

Thank you

If the phone is off, there is little chance of locating it. If it is on, but your SIM card, if it has one, was taken out and the phone was hard reset/factory reset, you have little chance to locate it on your own. If you want to make sure your phone is no longer able to be used on any service plan, call your service provider, report it stolen, and tell them to blacklist the IMEI number. Hovsep's suggestion could help, but a hard reset/factory reset or removed SIM card would make it more difficult to locate through this method.

If the phone is on and still in service (can connect to service provider cellular network), you can try to install Plan B by Lookout Mobile. [BROKEN LINK REMOVED] It can locate your device and show on Google Maps an approximate (within 15 meters or so depending on signal strength and if GPS is on and used). You can also wipe the device, make it "scream" (high pitched and loud tone much like a siren), and a few other options. A user guide can be found here: [BROKEN LINK REMOVED]. This is most effective soon after losing the phone; the longer time passes, the lesser chance of these and other options would be effective in finding your phone.

If you haven't installed any tracking apps on it, there's not a whole lot you can do. You can try installing Lookout's Plan B, which is designed for situations like this, but there's no guarantee.

Did you set up the Android Device Manager?

it will be difficult maybe tracking with IMEI
if someone stole it by now they hard reset the phone
