I have a laptop running Windcows XP SP3. Since yesterday, My Documents is not showing in My Computer and also the thumbnail of any folder is displayed very large in size (see screenshot here). How can I fix this?
The change how your icons are displayed in the view pane, you can click on that icon in your menu that looks like a little window. That will let you change the display to how you would like it to look - right now you have it set to medium or large thumbnails. You can change it to Details for just a listing only, or whatever format you like.
I believe Hovsep's instructions should fix your My Documents folder issue.
1) Right-click Start, and then click Properties.
2) Click Customize.
3) Click the Advanced tab.
4) In the Start menu items list, under My Documents, click Display as a link or Display as a menu, and then click OK twice.
check if TweakUI has somekind of option

you will need the windows xp cd SP3 included otherwise sfc /scannow might not work. You can burn iso image to cd but you need windows xp including SP3
