How can I automate a dial-up connection at Windows startup?

Ilya April 30, 2010

I have a mobile broadband internet connection on my mother’s computer, and can’t explain to her when she needs the internet and when she doesn’t. Is there any way to dial up the connection automatically at Windows startup so there’s no more confusion?

Isn't there an option to click that says something along the lines of, always dial this connection on startup?

You can create a simple batch file to automate the entire process.

    1. Create a file in Notepad and name it AutoDial.bat
    2. Write the following line in the file - rasdial "connection name" username password
Here, "connection name" is the name of your broadband internet connection.
username and password for the connection
    3. Save the file and put it in the startup folder which is located under your Start Menu - Programs - Startup.
