Is Ardour a hardware based program?

Suhel September 30, 2011

I’ve read quite a lot about Ardour music editing software. I even downloaded it, but I got no clue of it. I saw some tutorial too, but still don’t have any clue. What I’d understand from it is, it syncs your instruments (real) with your PC. Is it right?

is it like LMMS? VirtualDj? or its different

check out the comparision. Ardour is superior according to web.

But creators of Ardour dont consider Ardour as a sound editing software and they compare it with three different tools:  Nuendo, Sonar
and Logic, which are capable of replacing analog or digital tape

It works with a sound server called Jack unlike other softwares which work with sound card.

    If you read this,
you will know about the hardware thing.

If you are really interested in the software, then you should watch these videos :an official series for the beginners.

I hope you will first read everything that I gave, before coming to a conclusion.

Hello, Ardour is a Digital Music workstation that allows you to work/edit audio.  It works with plug ins and it is similat to Audigy but a little bit more complex and with a steeper learning curve.  You can pretty much edit your music, fix audio errors, extend/compress music tracks to sink it to video, etc.  Probably you already check the help me file but this is the link for Ardour support:

Ardour's recording capabilities are limited only by the hardware it is
run on. There are no built in limitations in the software.
