Is my Android smartphone possessed by malware?

On my Google Play account some apps try to download and then the phone stops and gives an error pop up.

The downloaded apps were security apps. I’ve not had this problem before. I do have Hornet Antivirus on my device now.

Also a couple of times my phone would vibrate 3 or 4 times and cut off and restart in safe mode. That’s a new thing also. On my keyboard the letters y & z have mysteriously swapped places.

Does anyone know what is going on with my device? One more thing sometimes when on Facebook my time will reset 5 hours back. This has happened several times.

The letter switch when you hit second button. Left bottom row. GLOBE symbol. The time glitch is just something they do.

I think,it would be better that you factory reset your phone as it's malfunctioning.
You could use some better antivirus app like Avast,LookOut.
    Note:-All data will get lost.

I would rather suggest backing up all of your data (music, pictures, documents, etc.), your contacts, text messages, etc., and then factory/hard reset your phone rather than suggest many different things to perform and try that may not work or may be difficult if the phone freezes and restarts on its own. The system files may be corrupt or an app is causing instability.

Also, check to see if there is an update for the phone by going into Settings, About Phone, and select Software Update (or similar).

Can you download other applications and games, musics.... you can try to hard reset your Android smartphone but do backup your files since they will be erased during the process.
