Why does Air Drop appear on my MacBook, but not on my iMac?

Yes, I had the same problem. Only newer 2008+ models appear to support it, so my 2006 Macbook Pro doesnt shop airdrop either. Not a big deal, but a bit annoying.

Type this in terminal and then check your Finder again:
defaults write com.apple.NetworkBrowser BrowseAllInterfaces 1
killall Finder

Worked like a charm. Thank you!
Well if you have OS X Lion on both. You have to make sure that they're connected to the same Wifi and AirDrop is opened on both computers at the same time. Also make sure it is one of the supported computers: http://www.loopinsight.com/2011/07/21/airdrop-only-works-with-certain-macs/
Thanks my IMAC is too old. Your answer was just what I needed.
